New Day

Every new sunrise is a start to a new day, so keep that in mind. Whatever happened yesterday is in the past  and the new day is here. Enjoy it and make it a good day.

New Animals

We have some neighbors who have become friends. They are having a lot of cats around the house and they are wanting to get rid of some of them. I am a little hesitant about taking more cats. One reason is that Ronnie said he would divorce me if I brought any more cats home. Now, he said I could bring some of those cats home. The other thing is, every time we have tried to bring in more cats, our existing cats run away. I do not want that to happen. However, Yeller needs a friend. I went over to play with some of the cats and they are all so adorable. Now I just need to decide what to do. They have also been trying to pen up their guineas to bring over here, too. I sure do want some guineas.

Learned Behavior

Well, Ursula has really learned to get what she wants. She is able to get outside when Ronnie or I go out, but she will decide when she wants to come back in. She comes to the door and waits. That makes it easier than chasing her around and trying to make her come in.

Saverine

Saverine has been in the pen for a few weeks now. I am grateful she has been in that pen. Jeb has not been able to chase her around and we have been able to put weight on. She has also been able to rest her leg. She is still skinny, but she is looking better and seems to be pretty content in the pen. She is even getting along better with the cows and donkeys who come over and try to steal her food. I am glad she is relaxed. Saverine is an old girl who deserves to be able to not have to worry about anything. I am just glad Jeb cannot get to her anymore. That was awful to watch. I think we should have done it earlier, but she had never been separated from Takua and Spots. She also had put Ronnie in the hospital once, so he did not really want to try to put her in the pen. I get it, but I am glad Saverine is happier.

Easter

I cannot believe Easter is already here. The animals have had a good day. I caught some cute photos of the donkeys with their ears up over the hay bales. They are funny animals. I sure hope everyone remembers the reason we celebrate the season, it is not chicks and bunny rabbits, but about Jesus and what he did for us. He paid the price for our sins on that cross and then rose from the dead 3 days later. I hope you believe and you do not forget that.

Melody

I tried to move Melody again. She was not having it. I swear, I wish I knew why she wanted in that one spot. I cannot figure it out. I moved her, but she moved right back. She does at least try to fake me out and pretend she might stay for a bit so I will leave her alone which is pretty genius, but then we are right back where we started.

Babying

I have been babying and trying to win the trust of those turkens. They do seem to already know my voice, but they do not really like for me to come into their space. I had a couple of eggs which cracked, so I gave them the eggs to spoil them a bit. They seemed to love it. I want them to be comfortable here. They do seem more relaxed and that is a good thing. One day at a time.

Hard Days

We all have hard days. That is life. It is part of being human. I know things cannot be perfect all the time, so hard days are part of life. I have had several of those lately with changing jobs. I know one night I was so tired and stress, I went to bed early and both the inside cats came and cuddled up beside me. They are good about that.

Hercules

Hercules has been limping. I know he is getting old which makes me so sad. I do not know what happened to him or if anything happened. He may have been horse playing with the donkeys which he is known to do or he could have arthritis. He has been laying down more which tells me he is in pain and I hate that. He is still running around with the other goats and donkeys most of the time, but sometimes he stays back in the barn. Poor Hercules.

Next Morning Turkens

The turkens seem to be more relaxed and seem to be decompressing nicely. They still seem scared but I think they are going to be fine. The other chickens are all coming over to try to figure out what is going on and who the new residents are. It is interesting.

Turkens

I got home one afternoon and Ronnie says the neighbor had asked if we wanted turkens. I did not even know what the heck that was, but I told him I hoped he had said yes we wanted them. Of course he had not done that, so I told him to let him know we would take them. The next day he tells me he has some entertainment for me for the evening. I was so tired already, but I wanted to hear what this entertainment would entail. I was not prepared for what he suggested. Remember the turkens? Apparently the neighbor who asked if we wanted them actually did not own them and he needed to go find out if they were still alive. I thought ok, maybe they were babies. I was not real sure what was going on. So, here is the story, the neighbors left some turkens and moved away. They left food and water and the other neighbor was looking after them. Well, a predator was coming in and killing them, so he knew he had to find someone to take them remaining two turkens. My entertainment for that evening was chasing those turkens and getting them to their new home. Luckily they were in a coop which is bigger than what we have, but they were locked in. I am not sure how a predator was getting in, but it was obvious there were dead turkens. These remaining two were terrified. Ronnie and I got them in a crate and got them home. I put them in a chicken coop to make sure they were healthy and so they could decompress for a while. They are the ugliest things I have ever seen, but I want a hundred of them now. I love them.

Life Changes

You know, sometimes life just changes. I feel like God moves you and makes you feel uncomfortable when He wants you moved. I have really struggled lately with my job, so my last day of work was this month and I am starting a new adventure. I know there are some lessons in this change and I know things will be an adjustment because I love the people I work with, most of them, and the residents where I work, but it is time to move on. I got a fantastic chocolate cake made by a co worker for my last day and some gifts. It is nice to be loved. I will miss them, but then there is always cell phones and social media to keep in touch.

Full Moon

It was not the weather causing the animals to fight, it must have been the full moon. The full moon snuck up on me this month. I had no idea it was so close to the beginning of the month, but here we are. It was a beautiful moon.

Fighting

Some days are better than others. For some reason, I saw Jeb and Mattie fighting. I have no idea what that was about. I did see Mattie kicking at Jeb over top of the fence, Jeb was biting Mattie. Those two are a mess. Jeb took a heart shaped hunk of hair out of Mattie’s hip. I tell you what, when the weather changes, it just throws these animals off some days. They are both so dramatic, too, it can be entertaining.

Cats

The cats have all been doing well. They seem to be hanging in there. Nothing much has changed there. I have not seen Banana lately, but Ronnie says he has. Athena still hates Yeller and Yeller still looks sad. Onyx is just fine, she does not seem to be bothered by much. I did get to see all three of them eating together. That is few and far in between these days. I am happy when I see them together and getting along.

Melody

Melody has been broody and really in a bad mood. The thing is, there are no eggs under her and she is not laying any eggs. I am not sure how to help her. I do worry about her because of where she has decided to stay. She is not protected if a predator was to come into the yard. I pick her up and move her every single day. It makes her so mad, but I do it to help her, even if she thinks I am not. I want her to get over whatever she is doing because she is going to end up getting hurt. We do not have too many predators coming through here, but there is always a chance.

April Fool’s Day

Well, I thought it was a big joke with the chance of rain in the air. The morning was beautiful, but as the day continued on, I think the April Fool’s Joke was not a joke any longer. I even saw a heart shaped cloud in the sky. The cooler wind was coming in and you could see the rain coming in the distance. I was able to get the feeding and watering done before it started raining. I was glad about that. I guess the joke this year is on me, I did not believe it was going to rain, but it sure did. I am always grateful for the rain out here. This summer is going to be rough if we do not get more rain.
