Teaching Bad Habits

The cows are teaching Mattie bad habits. The cows like to try to push everyone else out of the way to get to their food. Mattie has started trying to kick everyone out of the way to get to his food. We definitely have to dodge the cows and Mattie. I think Mattie is getting older and he is watching everything going on around him and he is picking up on the bad habits. Hopefully he will grow out of that.

Just Terrible

Josephine really is a terrible mom. I hate to even say that. I know she tries, it’s just not going well this time just like last time. I came home one evening and there was a chick in the water bowl. It was standing in the water shaking. I was able to get it out of there. The next morning, there was another one Ronnie got out of there. I’m not sure either survived. I really do hate this. I wish I could help her out more but she has tried to murder me every time I try to get near her or any of the chicks.

Halter Off

Mattie has grown so much, his halter was getting too small. I was able to get the halter off of him. It was a fight for a minute but then he figured out I was trying to take it off and he calmed down. The thing was too small. He had a small little spot where he had his hair had rubbed off. I was glad I got it off. He ran off quickly. I knew he was happy to get that off. Now the question is, will I ever be able to get another one on him?

Getting Along

When Tinkerbelle and Cinderella came to live here, Tinkerbelle did not seem to like Cinderella much. Tinkerbelle wouldn’t let Cinderella eat out of the same bowl, so they have 2 bowls. I’m not sure what the deal was there. They seem to be doing better together. They are eating together now and they are able to stay in the shelter together. They even lay under the sun shade together. That’s such a good thing.

Chicks

The chicks are not doing too well around here. Josephine had hatched 16 chicks. There are only 5 now. I know a couple of them drowned in the water bowl. I don’t really know what happened to the rest. It’s so sad to me though. I really will have to watch Josephine closer to make sure she doesn’t hatch anymore. Maybe I’m being too hard on her and she knew they wouldn’t make it but most of them seemed healthy to me since I’ve watched them closely but there was nothing I could do unless I took them all from her and they could have still passed. That’s hard.

Figured It Out

Yeller has it all figured out now. He has managed to make friends with the other cats. He knows where to go for food and for water. He has been staying out of the shop more often with Onyx and Athena which makes me happy. He is doing so milieu better. I know he has been here for a while now and he is fitting it well. I’m glad he has stayed. He is growing and he actually likes us now.

Here we go

I went outside to check on the cats as I do every evening. However, when I walked outside I kept hearing the goats. I figured it was just the goats on the side of the fence where I was. It was dark outside so I couldn’t see out in the pasture. I decided to walk out there. Hercules, Lucky, and Carlos had all gotten into the other pasture. They were interested in the new goats. That’s funny to me since they have been here for a couple of weeks. I guess they saw them and were not impressed because they were trying to get back to where they were supposed to be. I ended up putting animal crackers in my pocket and walked them right back over. They haven’t been back into the other pasture again.
