June 5, 2025

I saw Yeller right away when I went outside. I sure to love that cat. He knows I love him. Always let those you love; know you love them, it is an important thing to do. Athena and Onyx were not far away from Yeller. It looked like rain was coming in and they were all staying close together.

Red is doing better. He has been up more. The donkeys were all out in the pasture as I left for work.

Olga was out and about with her chicks. The chicks were not staying with her. She was having difficulty keeping them together and keeping them with her. The one with the yellow head is not looking very good. I have a bad feeling about that one.

The other chicks are getting so big, so fast.

Daisy continues to find eggs the chickens have laid and eating them. I do not know where she is getting them. It is a daily thing now.

My lilac bush I got for Mother's day is blooming. I am so happy about that. I do not have a green thumb and I think Carlos had already somehow pulled the plant out of the pot once. I was afraid it was dead, but it isn't, so that is a plus. I am hoping it continues to grow. I am sure trying which is half the battle.

I finally almost have all the hair off of Ted. He has not fully lost all of his wool since we got him. I am determined to make it happen this year.

The pigs are all doing fine. The donkeys and goats were checking on them today. They do that from time to time.

The Oklahoma horses are looking good. They are gaining weight and really are looking healthy. I was concerned for a while about Saverine, but she is even looking good.

Willow decided to eat with the cows today. I will never know why they do that. It does not matter as long as they are getting fed.

Red is looking so much better. I am glad he is on the mend.

Gus did lay over for me to pet his belly, but he was too far away, so I only got to pet his face. He is the most loving little pig. I am grateful for him.

I did get one of the cinnamon queen's out today and loved on her. She did not care for that, but I did not care. They sure are pretty little things. I do have a hen watching over the baby chicks in their little cage. It is funny to watch her peek over at me when I am refilling food and water.

I am also amazed the chickens know they need to roost, so they sit on the food bin to roost when it is nighttime. They sure are smart.

The sunset was out of this world in West Texas this evening. If you have not seen a West Texas sunset, you should put that on your bucket list. The pictures do not compare to what you see.

Ursula and Oreo both know we are leaving town tomorrow and decided to get into my bag while I was packing my clothes, one at a time.

June 4, 2025

I saw Tinkerbelle and Cinderella cuddled up this morning. Fred is still looking rough from the fight, and he was hiding in the shelter with the goats.
I have not mentioned Annabeth and Rena lately, but they are doing well. Those two probably do have the best place on the property in that chicken coop. They are well loved. If all people could be loved in life, this earth would be a better place.
Lucky did come up and eat out of my hand. That is the only time he likes me at all. I will take it though. He is a special goat to me. I hope he knows that. I do think he does.
Noma, Mattie, and Willow were all under the smaller shelter this afternoon getting out of the sun. I do not know why they were not under the one with the fan is beyond me, but I probably am not supposed to know.
The chicks with Olga are still with Olga. I am still giving them food and water to make sure they get what they need.
Jasper and Alex were laying around today. I think that is all they do. That is okay though. That is all they need to do.
I did see the cats all at least once.
The chicks in the shop are doing fine. They are growing like weeds.

June 3, 2025

As I went outside early in the morning, I saw Athena after something. It turned out to be a bunny rabbit. I just knew that cat was going to chase that bunny off the property, or she was going to catch it and I did not want to witness that. I watched for a bit and then I walked closer to see if I could get Athena's attention elsewhere. It did not happen. I am happy to report that when the rabbit crossed the road, Athena knew not to cross the road. She knew her boundaries. We should all learn our own boundaries with other people.

Olga and the chicks have been moving around since I took the other eggs away. I guess that is a good sign. She is teaching them what to do and what not to do.

The other chicks are sure growing fast. I forget how fast they grow when they are that small. Olga's chicks do not seem to be growing that fast.

The horses were all standing around the hay bale, eating and getting along. That is a good thing. They do not always get along. I think Jeb and Chief are both bullies.

I did not see Onyx and Yeller this morning, but I did see them this afternoon.

The donkeys and goats were excited to see me. They came up to where I was as soon as they saw me. They do not do that too often, but it makes me feel good when they do.

One of Olga's chicks is starting to not look so good. I hope I am wrong, but I do not have a good feeling about it.

Noma let me get close to her today. That is not normal, but I was happy about it. I know it was only because I had food, but it did feel good for a minute that she allowed me in her bubble.

I have never seen or never noticed this before, but it is like with everything and everyone else; I saw a bird had pooped on Takua. I had to laugh a little. I did spray him off though, too.

Bill was getting flogged by Olga, but he did not even move an inch until he saw me. He decided to move when he saw me.

I have about got all the wool off of Ted. He is not loving it at all. He runs from me now.

The cats were all in the backyard with the dogs this evening when I went out. I am glad they can get along.

When I turn the light on to the baby chicks, they start stretching and spreading their wings. It is so cute to watch them do that.

June 2, 2025

Olga and the chicks were up and at it early this morning. I went out to give them food and water. The sheep keep trying to get to them where I give them the food and water, so I am glad there is fencing in there.
I saw the biggest spider today. It was terrifying. It was not at my house, thank goodness.
The chicks are still getting big. They are doing well.
The cats were all home today. I am grateful for that every day.
The donkeys and goats were way out in the pasture.
Sonny and Fred have been fighting again. It makes me so mad. They are both pretty beat up looking. I hate it. They need to get along. We all need to get along with everyone.
Olga and the chicks were grateful for some food and water.
Alex is having trouble getting around. I do not know what is going on with him, but he acts like his feet hurt. Probably need to give his hooves a trim. He will be fine. I just want them all to live in luxury. He did let me love on him. He even came up to me and rubbed his head on me to get me to pet him more.
The pigs are sure loving their bigger mud hole. They have been in it often. I can tell by how much mud is all over them. They need that to survive this west texas heat.
I got some lightning photos today. It was pretty to watch the storm roll in. I am pretty sure we did not get any rain though. The rain always goes around us.

June 1, 2025

It looks like Olga hatched 2 babies. I think that may be all she hatches out. She is still sitting on the eggs, but I am not seeing any sign of them hatching. She is leaving the eggs, too, so I need to get rid of those eggs. I am still taking them food and water. The sheep are getting up close and personal at times and Olga is not liking that.
The other baby chicks are growing fast. They are doing well.
The donkeys and goats were in the barn. It was a hot day. Red is still having difficulty with his leg, so he is still laying down often. I know he will be okay. It just takes time to heal, from anything.
My favorite cactus has some berries on the top. It looks like the other ones are growing around it well. I hope it stays that way.
I have had to make sure to watch the baby chicks closely for something called pasty butt. 10 out of our 25 have had that. We ended up losing 1 due to it, but I caught the rest of them before it was too bad. If you do not know what that is, I will let you google it.
The cats were all home of course.
It sure was a pretty evening. Hot, but pretty.
There was supposed to be a chance of the Northern Lights tonight, but they came in 8 hours earlier than predicted, so I missed them while I was sleeping. I did get a notification, but I slept through it.
