Becoming Fearless

Yeller is working on becoming fearless like the other cats. He is starting to come out more when the other cats are in the shop. He is still so terrified and I can see his little heart going so fast and his breathing heavily, but he is pushing through. He is so tiny compared to the other cats. He is working on it. It makes me happy to see this. 

Polite Pete

Pete is so polite. I was giving the donkeys apples. Ned, Red, and Pedro were greedy and would take the whole apple. Pete would stand there and eat the apple one bite at a time. He was not greedy like the rest of them and it was great to be able to spend that time with him. He is doing so well with being more social with me. It has been a long process, but we are there. 

Athena, Are You Crazy?

Athena is something. Her and onyx followed Ronnie and I down to feed and water the pigs one morning. That’s not a big deal. However, Athena thought it would be a good idea to crawl into the pig pen which is exactly what she did. I ran in to get her since those pigs are well over her size. She must have felt my panic and she ran right out of that pen quickly. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. 

Did Not Learn Well

Rena did not learn her lesson. I caught her back in the shop in the middle of the day. She is a mess. I did run her out of there and I have not seen her back in there again. I know she was looking for a spot to lay an egg but does it have to be in a hot shop in the middle of the day. I’m hoping she stays out of there now. I do not want her to get overheated again. That was awful for both of us. 

Caught Him

Yeller is still unsure of me. I get it, I really do. He looks like he has had a rough little life. No more though, he will be happy one of these days. I was able to catch him again to try to get him used to me. He didn’t fight me this time. He did look at me with panic thinking what is she going to do with me, but I held him long enough for him to relax just a bit. He will get used to it. I just want him to be socialized so I can get him to the vet without me ending up in the ER like I did last year with Jelly. It’s all going to work out. 

Kitten is Trying to Fit in

Yeller is trying to fit in with the other cats. He is like the odd man out. It won’t take long for him to fit it. He is trying to be in the same areas they are in when they come in to eat at night. He slowly walks over and then sits down to see if any of them are going to protest. He patiently waits for one of them to finish eating before he goes over to a bowl to eat. I know he is terrified and I don’t blame him. These guys can be brutal. He is trying though and that’s what is important. 

Injury

Noma did the same thing Cracker Jack did with the fencing and cut her face. She is healing well, but getting close to her isn’t going to happen. She will not allow it for any reason. That’s the third animal who has been injured. Well, there won’t be anymore. The fencing issue has been fixed so no one else gets hurt, human or animal. These guys have been sticking their head in the goat pen to steal their hay. That’s why they are getting injured. If you remember, Ethel the chicken was injured when she got stuck in that fencing. It has been fixed now.
