September 30, 2025

I let the chicks out first thing this morning. They are liking that more and more. They are so cute as they use their little wings to make them go faster. I just crack up at them.
I did get to see all the cats. Onyx was unsettled; she was up in the tree and then up on top of the chicken coop. Athena wanted to be left alone, per usual. Yeller was hiding.
When I got home, the chicks were trying to beat the heat under the tractor. Once they saw me, they jumped up and started going all over the place.
I loved on Yeller. He is the cuddliest cat. I did notice all 3 of the outside cats can live amongst the chicks and not attack them. I am so happy about that. It’s good to know. All things should be able to get along, I know that does not happen, but it could and should.
The animals are all doing fine.
I was able to pet on May. She did not love that.
I did give the pasture goats some chicken feed. Interesting fact, Hercules will only eat out of my hand if Lucky has not already eaten out of my hand. That goat just stinks.
I went back out later and would have sworn there was a baby calf out in our pasture. Turns out it wasn’t. But, I was out in the pasture, so Willow and Mattie got some attention.
As I went back toward the house, the chicks were all already in the coop, so I shut the gate.

The morning was a beautiful sight. I saw Athena first thing. I also was able to love on Ned and get donkey smiles. I was able to pet on Red and Pedro, Pete was not really wanting any attention, it was too early.
I let the chicks out again. They seemed happy about that.
Athena was up on a hay bale watching all the other animals.
The chicks were all over the place when I got home from work. They are cracking me up. A couple of them, Gidget and another one ended up over in a whole different area. I have no idea how they got there, but I made sure to get them back to where they were supposed to be.
The cats are unbothered by the chicks. I am glad about that. I guess I let them out when they were big enough for the cats to not be interested. That is a relief.
I fed Pedro, Lucky, and Ned some chicken feed. The donkeys are so gentle with take the feed from me. I am glad because that would be terrible. The other animals over in that pasture did not seem to care.
After I fed the chicks, they seemed to stay close to the coop. One of the older hens got in there and was stressed when trying to find her way out. When you get into a situation and feel like you cannot get out, there is always a way, you only need to find it.
I was walking to the front to turn on some water, and I heard the chicks following after me. That makes me laugh.
Willow was by the pig pen aggravating them. She does that often.
The pigs were all good. After I finished all the animals feeding and watering, I went back to the pig pen and gave out some belly rubs to Brutus and Bacon Bit. Brutus was acting like he was not feeling well. I am sure it is the weather change though.
Jeb's cut on his head is looking better.
There was a frog living in the sheep water. I am thinking it may be the same frog I got out of the dog water bowl. There was not enough water in there for him to jump out, so I added water, and he was able to get out.
As I was leaving the pig pen, I saw a cat who I was pretty sure was not my cat. I have seen the cat before, but not for a while. I went over to see if I could see the cat better, but it was already gone. The chicks were all okay, but I decided to get them all back in the coop for their protection for the night.

September 28, 2025

I went out to feed the chicks. I saw May wondering around looking for food, so I made sure to take care of her first.
I knew it was time to let the chickens out. I knew they were ready, even though I might not have been. It needed to happen. So, I let them out. They were confused, but they started exploring and they were fine. The cats did not even bother them. Thank goodness.
As I was letting the chicks out, Ronnie was on the lookout for coyotes. The donkeys are good to alert us if there is danger and apparently there was a coyote out in the pasture. The donkeys ended up chasing it off.
I got to see all the donkeys by the fence later in the day.
I still had to cuddle with Gidget. She tolerated me for a few minutes and then went on her way. Lovey also gave me some attention. I was afraid they would not let me pet them anymore, but that was not the case today.
I did watch out the window multiple times to check on them and each time they were fine. There is nothing wrong with being cautious and wanting to prevent a catastrophic event. I may have had to save a few from the backyard to stay away from Daisy, just in case.
The other animals were all doing fine. Willow and Mattie allowed me to pet them today.
One of the chicks ended up in with the goats. She was so frantic to get back to the other chickens. I finally got her over there and she was okay.
The evening was so beautiful.
I got all the chicks back into the chicken coop for the night. It was not hard at all. They seemed ready to go to bed.

September 27, 2025

I got up and went outside. The donkeys were all by the fence, so I went over and gave them some attention.
I got to see all the cats. They were all scattered in different places. They do that sometimes.
The chicks were excited to see me. Those guys need to get out of that coop. They really do. They are getting too big to be in the coop. It is almost time. They are so funny.
The event went all day. It was such a good turn out and it was great day. We had people coming out and painting rocks to hide on the trail. I had a couple of ladies hanging out with me all day and it was such a good day. The walk part went well also. We had almost 30 people there, 28 to be exact. I love to see how people will come together for this. It was just a great day. Show up for the people that matter in your life; it is important, and they do notice.
I got home and had to save a frog from Daisy. The frog was in Daisy's water bowl. I guess Daisy thought she was going to eat the frog. Daisy is a mess. I rescued the frog before anything could happen to it.
I saw the cats when I got home, too. I think I had forgotten I had seen them in the morning. It was a whirlwind this morning.
The animals were all doing fine.
The sunset was a beautiful end to a beautiful day.
