Willow

I saw Willow standing up tall on the hay. She looked so cute up on there. I do not what she was doing, but she looked like she knew what she was doing. Willow was such a good addition to the farm. Her being born here made it even better. She is loaded with personality like her siblings. 

Heart Cloud

I got up to feed the animals early in the morning and watched the sun rise. As I watched, I did get to see the clouds and one of the rolling around looked like a heart. It just showed that the farm is loved. I see hearts everywhere around here and that has not changed. 

Rain

We finally got some rain. Here in West Texas though, it rains hard for 10 minutes and then it thunders and lightnings for hours. It was a pretty night to watch the lightning. I even got to see a rainbow which is beautiful. I do like to see all of those things. It cooled the weather off a little, but not much and not for long. 

Cinderella/Prada

Prada put Cinderella in her place and now they are friends. It is an interesting little relationship they have. They do still fight, but they do eat together and live together peacefully. It is nice to see they could put things aside and be able to be in the same place together. It is a nice change.  

Struggle

This last few months have been a struggle for me. I don’t really know what was going on, probably a lot of things all at once and it just built up. I do find the farm and the animals calming to me and they give me so much love. I did see a big cloud that looked like an angel and a cross combined. It was a comforting thing to see. 

Athena

Update on Athena, she is still having some difficulty with constipation. I think she will need to go to the vet again. I am not sure what is going on with her. I hope she is okay, but I am giving her the meds and have been but she is still having problems. I do not think she is as bad as she was, but I still think there is a problem going on. I just wish I knew what was going on with her. She is still eating and drinking, so it cannot be that bad, but she does need to go back to the vet again. At least she is starting to tolerate me. 

Turken Update

The two turkens sitting on eggs did separate into two boxes. I tell you, they are on 17 eggs between the two of them. This should be interesting. I cannot wait to see what a baby turken will look like. I am hoping they all will hatch. It will just be so much fun. I just know it will.

Full moon

This Full moon has been crazy. Russ was having problems. Buckwheat would not eat. The turkens were in one box and then moved to another box. The quail have been running around and flying away when seen in places they are not supposed to be. Athena was eating the sheep/goat food. I have no idea what is going on. This has been the craziest full moon lately with the animals. I was even feeling crazy there for a while. I am blaming the full moon. 

Quail

The Quail has still been living out here on the property. I love that I get to see them everyday. They just wonder around and live their best life in the property. I have seen them in with the chickens eating with them and their food. It is kind of funny to see that. If I get too close to them, they fly away pretty fast. It is nice to see them out here. This is the first year we have seen this many of them. 

Wheezy

Wheezy is one of the first chickens we bought when we moved here. Wheezy was raised by the goats because she was picked on by the other chickens. I loved that she has been made it this far. She is one of the last of them that are still here. I love to see her still thriving and loving life. It makes me happy. 

Russ

I went out to feed like I normally do and Russ would not eat and he did not want to get up. He was breathing heavy. I was internally freaking out. I know when a pig does not Eat, it’s serious. Of course, it was a Sunday night and Ronnie was out of town, so a vet was out of the question. I called a friend. And she had some suggestions which I did and they seemed to help. I thought he was overheating. I just had no idea what to do. All I could do was pray, so, that’s what I did. The next morning, Russ did get up and eat. That was a win. I know prayers work and they were working. However, that evening, he was down again and did not want to eat. He did a little, but not much. He was at least up. He did urinate and he pooped, so that was good, too. I needed to see those two things so I knew it was not either one of those things. The next morning, he was eating again. That afternoon, he was still up and eating, but none of the other pigs were trying to take food from him, which is weird. Russ was eating out of one bowl and the others were not trying to take any of his food. That is unheard of. It is not normal. I was so concerned. The next day it was like everything was normal. I have no idea what happened. Maybe it was the heat, maybe it was constipation for a bit, maybe the full moon approaching, I have no idea, but I am grateful the prayers worked and Russ is doing much better. 

Separate Boxes

The Turkens decided it might be beneficial to get in two separate laying boxes to sit on eggs. There are now 8 eggs being sat upon and I am so excited about it. I cannot wait to see what a baby turken chick looks like. I do hope they all hatch out. I won’t be able to leave them all in the coop, they will have to go out in the general population with the rest, but I bet they will make that just fine. 

Louie and the Horns

I don’t think Louie understands that his horns can be a weapon. He uses them like he knows but then he uses them on me and surely he would know better than that, right? I mean I just think he would know better. That cute little monster got up behind me and dug those horns in the back of my leg so hard, there was blood. I know he was trying to play, at least I think he was trying to play. He better have been trying to play. All I can say is those horns hurt for sure. 

Athena

Athena was sick before we left for Alaska, I took her to the vet and that was a dramatic situation, but she was diagnosed with a UTI. She was given fluids, a shot of antibiotics, and another antibiotic. My friend did the antibiotic for her while we were gone. I thought she was better. Well, I was wrong. She started doing the same things she was doing. I took her to another vet and they did an ultrasound and an X-ray and found out she did not have a bladder infection this time, she was constipated. This cat is so backed up, but she is still eating. I did not even know what to say. Now I am giving her med again. She is going to end up liking me because I am having to pick her up so much to give her meds. She is not the friendliest cat in the world. We are doing what we have to do. Hopefully this will work with the meds and instructions he gave me, or we will be back at the vet again and that visit will be much worse. 

Friends

I am desperately trying to make friends with the Turkens who are sitting on eggs. I am working on it with feeding them while they are sitting on eggs. They are not sure what I am doing, but I trying. So far, they are pecking me and then eating out of my hand, so maybe they will get it eventually. 

Turkens on Eggs

I am so excited, we have Turkens on eggs! I am so happy about this. There are 2 of them sitting on a couple of them, which is weird to me, but whatever. I am just happy they are sitting. I am hoping they actually hatch out some babies. I hope they all look like Wednesday, our black Turken. She is my favorite in there. 

Baby Update

Well, I kept the baby alive for 4 days. The baby did not make it. I do not know what happened, but I do know that if the baby had either neurological issues or was blind, either one of those things would have made it difficult to live a good life. My heart is broken and I hate this every time, but I know it is probably for the best. Poor little thing though. It is just no fun at all. 

Baby Chick Update

Well, the baby got new baby chick food and a new water jug. I do think the baby may have some neurological issues or is blind. The baby will get up and fall over. It is really sad. We will see if the baby makes it or not. I attempted to put the baby with Snowflake and the other baby and she was not having it. I also attempted to put the baby with any other hen we have and they were not having it either. They were all curious, but not enough to take the baby. I wondered if something was wrong with the baby and that was why they would not take it, but it could also be because I had been holding onto the baby. Who knows. I just know the baby is crying for someone or something and I can only do so much. I want it to be okay and I am doing everything I can do. 

Baby Chick

We Had something wild happen, I cannot explain it. Snowflake had sat on a bunch of eggs and only one hatched out, well, we went on vacation, so I had not thrown the eggs out. Long story short, I went to throw away the eggs and I found a baby chick, alive that had just hatched. I am not sure how that happened except that snowflake sat on it and hatched it for a while and then the heat hatched it the rest of the way. I took the baby into my hands and held onto it. Ronnie and I put it into the place we put the baby chicks when we have them. I have some stuff to tide us over until we could get baby chick food and a new water jug for the babies. The baby seemed to be doing okay. 

Pigs

The Pigs are all doing well, even in the heat. They may be muddy and stink, but they are happy and healthy. The pigs are doing their usual thing. Nothing new, which means nothing bad going on. I sure do love those pigs. They still make me laugh.
