Tina

Tina Is not looking too good. We have had several days of very hot weather. She is having difficulty breathing and her color is not looking good. I am nervous. I will have to check on her. I had her out of the pen and then I put her back in the pen. I did go check one time and she was in the fan and her breathing and color was already looking better, but we will see. I am praying about it. I sure do not want to lose her. 

Ginger Neglected Again

I am guessing Ginger is feeling neglected again. As I was watching the animals, Ginger flew up on the fence and walked over and up on my arm. I guess she is feeling like I am not giving her enough attention. I am going to have to remedy that with her. I did give her some attention while she was up on the fence. Once she was finished, she flew down. 

Jeb/Cows

Jeb loves cows. He likes to interact with the neighbor’s cows. It is like he waits for them so he can play with them. I guess he just remembered we have cows. I saw him with Jasper and Alex and he looked so intrigued. It was funny to watch. The cows looked a little perplexed about the whole thing. I just laughed. It was like Jeb just remembered he had cow friends here. So weird. 

Horses

The Horses are doing well. I do spray them down with this hot weather. Chief still wants no part in that, but the rest of them do. Jeb, Takua, and Spots love the water. They like to have the water hose on them. I make sure to do this daily to help them cool off. This week has been brutal with the heat. 

Pigs

The pigs are all doing well even with all the hot days. They have their water and shelter. They are living their lives like they always do. I sure do love them. They are usually full of mud after being in the mud all day, but I sure do love them. 

Just Wild

The relationship with Prada and Tina is just wild. I saw Prada basically hugging Tina in her own way. I don’t know how to explain it. They have such a bond. It is so wild to watch it. Prada loves her and Tina loves her, too. It was like they had been separated all day and Prada was excited to see her. I have never witnessed anything like it. Louie is just wild. I do not think he really knows what goes on sometimes. 

Ginger Attention

Ginger wanted some attention. Ronnie was unloading hay. Ginger flew up to Ronnie. I guess she had been feeling neglected and wanted some attention. She hung out for a little while on the hay and giving Ronnie some attention and then decided she had enough and she flew back down. These animals know what they want and need. They know how to get it, too. 

Cinderella

Cinderella finally took some food from my hand. She has never done that. She wanted the tumbleweed bad enough she was willing to take it from my hand. I was so shocked by her taking it from me. It was the first time she had done that. It may be the last. She is still very scared of us for whatever reason. One day I hope she gets over that. 

Tumbleweeds

There are a ton of green tumbleweeds in the pasture with the horses. The horses will not eat them, but the goats, cows, and donkeys would eat them. I have pulled some up and Ronnie has, too, for the other animals. They eat them up fast. We need to get them all over into that pasture to eat up all that tumbleweed. That would save on the feed bill for a bit. I wonder if we could do that. It would be some chaos trying to get the horses into a different pasture and then get all the donkeys and cows into their pasture. We will see what Ronnie wants to do. That might be the real rodeo. 

Rare Sighting

I Caught a rare sighting of Bill, Cinderella, and Tinkerbelle getting along well enough to eat together. I do not know what it is and why Bill does not like Tinkerbelle. I do know she is a bully, but he is bigger than her. He could run her off, but he doesn’t. I was shocked to see them eating together and it did not last long, but I did see it. It is possible. 

Banana

I was so afraid Banana had been killed by the coyote. I had not seen him in so long. I really thought I would never see him again. Well, Ursula wanted out and I let her out. She found Banana. Banana did run as soon as he saw me, but at least I know he is okay. I was so happy to see him. I know he is still here.

Horny Toad

As I was watering the horses, I got to see another horny toad. I was so excited to see another one. We have not seen a lot of them out here, but now I have seen 2. I tried to catch it, but I was too slow. Of course, the horny toad hid also. These are a big deal out here. I hope we get to see more. 

Temporary

Ronnie put up a temporary fence so I could let the turkens out into the sunlight for a bit. They absolutely loved it. They went to scratching in the grass and making all kinds of noises. They seemed so happy to get out in the sun. I love it for them. Ronnie is looking for some fencing and then they will be able to be out in the sun whenever they want. I will be able to start letting them out daily until he puts the coop up. Them being happy makes me happy.

Hay

We have two types of hay we buy: one type for the donkeys and cows and then one for the horses. We make sure to keep the two types for the needs of each type of animals. When I came home from work the other day, I saw Jeb eating the type of hay not meant for them. It looks like he is doing fine with eating that type, but we may need to move the hay bale to keep him out of it. 

Normal

The Hens must know the coyote is gone because they are now going back into the front yard. I guess they can feel the danger is over. I am glad to see they are no longer afraid. I hope we no longer have to deal with any of that. I know living out here, it is always a possibility, but for now, things are better and the coyote is gone. 

Freaked Out

I got totally freaked out. I walked by and saw a chicken looking like a pretzel. As I walked around to the side, her eyes looked rolled back in her head. I thought for a minute she might be dead. Nope, she was just enjoying a dirt bath. I had to watch for several minutes to make sure she was really okay. She was though. I had to laugh at myself after really seeing what was going on. She was really enjoying her sun and dirt bath. 

The Odd Trio Again

Louie, Prada, and Tina make up the odd trio which I know you already know. I had fed the chickens and was trying to let Tina in the pen because it was so hot out. Well, Prada got out and Louie got out and Ronnie and I just sat back and had to watch them chaos. During the chaos, Louie even got to get up close and personal with Yeller. It was quite the scene. Louie was trying to stretch up to see what Ronnie had in some buckets. It was funny. I did finally get them all back in where they all needed to go. They ended up all eating together in the goat pen. The goats did share with Tina. They do love her. 

The Other Turkens

The Turkens in the other pen are all doing well. The one hen who was looking sick is still looking better. I am so grateful they are here. I love to go over and watch them. They are so funny. I think I just love chickens, but these guys are so funny. I am glad they are all doing well. Ronnie is planning on adding onto their coop so they can get into the sunlight and they will be even better. 

Some Nights

Some nights trying to get Tina in the pen with Louie and Prada is quite the rodeo. Louie wants out and then Prada wants out. Louie tries to go under the fence and then I have to grab him before he actually makes it. Tina needs to be guided into the pen like herding cattle. It can take all my energy, but it is worth it for those three to be able to be together. Once they all get back into the pen, Louie starts jumping around and Prada messes around in the hay. Tina lays down and finds a place to relax. It is all worth it to watch them.
