May 6, 2025

It did do some raining in the night, so the cactus blooms are still all over the place around here. I love it.
The cats were home lounging around. I got to pet Athena again. What is happening?
Willow was irritating the pigs like she does.
The chickens are making dirt holes everywhere to give themselves dirt baths. They can make things a danger. I know I will be the one to fall in one of their holes.
It was so humid out here after the storms and I think there may be more coming. It was miserably hot out. I do not like it.
The pigs had a huge amount of water in their pens after the rain. They were happy about that. I know they needed it today with the heat.
Tinkerbelle was feeling so good today she left the pen for a few minutes like she used to do. I like to see that. I know she has not been doing as well lately.

The dust storms were ridiculous. I have no other way to describe it. I know why my vehicle is never clean. Yuck.
The donkeys and goats are taking advantage of the green grass. I think they know it will not be here much longer. Summer is fast approaching.
The cats were staying close to the house. I am glad every day of the fact all three were so young when they got here that they do not run off like the other ones we have had.
Carlos and Lucky ate some corn out of my hand. That is the only time Lucky pays any attention to me. That is okay though, at least he pays some attention to me.
Ned had a piece of cactus on his leg. That is a problem out here, we do have cacti everywhere, so the donkeys do get into it sometimes. He would not allow me to get it off of his leg. Ronnie tired, too. I know it will eventually come off on its own and he will be okay.
The little goats were getting along eating for a bit. I went ahead and put food in another bowl as well so they would not fight. I knew they eventually would start fighting over food. We do not always have to fight each other over nothing.
Lester was guarding the hen again as she laid an egg. That is his job, and he takes it seriously. He is such a good rooster.
The clouds are rolling in again. The rain should follow soon.
Saverine and Willow, both gave me some attention. That was sure nice of them.
These cats and their hunting habits. I do not love it. Onyx caught a bird and played with it until the inevitable happened. Yeller had to help in all of that. All the while the dogs are over there acting jealous of the whole thing.

May 4, 2025

The cats were all home. I sat around relaxing most of the day. All the animals are doing fine. I finished a quilt for a resident at work. She has started it, did one block and then decided I would do better at it, so she gave me all the fabric to make it for her. I got that finished. It turned out cute. Do the things you love to do unapologetically.

May 3, 2025

Athena found a box outside she was sitting in. I do not know what it is about a box, but cats love it.
I was gone all day having a girl's day, so I was tired when I got home. Ronnie and I fed quickly. It is good to get away with friends once in a while to laugh and enjoy their company.
All the cats were home today. Athena even let me lay down beside her and she did not move. That never happens.
The animals were all doing well. No new complaints.

May 2, 2025

We have some rain coming in. I know we do. The cactus flowers are all opening up. They are beautiful across our pastures. We have several different types, but all the flowers are blooming right now. A sure sign it is fixing to rain in West Texas. I have learned that in the last few years of living here.
I did see all the cats when I got home. Athena even let me pet her. I hope she is not sick. She does not normally do that.
I got to see more yellow headed blackbirds. I am so amazed at how pretty they are. I do like to see them. I only see them in the spring.
The donkeys and goats surrounded me in a circle out in the pasture. I know they love me. That is pretty obvious when they all gather around wanting attention. Show others your love for them; it is an important thing to do since we all need to know we are loved.
Cinderella is looking bloated. Ronnie went and got some meds for her. I was able to give her the bloat medicine. It was a bit of a fight, but I won that fight and got it down her. I have already wormed them, so I hope this medicine helps. She does not act like she is sick or in pain. We will see what happens.
Daisy and Onyx can be seen often these days laying on the deck together. Who says you cannot be friends if you are different; prove those people wrong.

May 1, 2025

I saw the cats bright and early. It does make my day to see them every morning. Who am I kidding, all the time it makes me happy. It does look like Athena and Yeller are friends again. Never forget forgiveness is good for the soul.

I saw one of the donkeys leading the others across the hill with all the fog. It was an interesting sight to see. It was also quite unique and beautiful if I do say so myself.

Alex allowed me to pet his head while he was relaxing in the hay. That was a plus for the morning.

Willow and Mattie greeted me while I was out feeding. I think they were really trying to look for food and did not care so much about me, but that is okay. I was able to pet them anyway. That was all that really mattered to me.

I swear, sometimes I think Athena is either incredibly brave or incredibly dumb. She might even have that adrenaline junky attitude. She was casually walking along in the pasture like she does, knowing there are donkeys that try to run her over. She does not care. I am hoping the donkeys are getting used to her. Willow was coming over to her slowly and Athena ran away. It is interesting to watch.

It sure was cloudy this morning, but the sun was trying to peek through. I caught a good picture of the sun rays in all the colors looking like a rainbow. I have not seen it so vivid before. I was in awe of what I was looking at.

On my way to work there was a such fog mixed with dirt, but you could see it slowing down. It was a sight. It also showed how much dirt is out here. It really is a substantial amount of dirt.

Ronnie was home tonight to help with the feeding. That was nice to see. I was home late, so it was really nice to see him get home in time to help.

The hen got off the eggs, so I scooped them up, so they did not hatch.

Jasper's abscess is looking so much better. Prayers work; they really do. He does not look like he will have to go to the vet at this time. It looks like it has started to heal on its own this time. I am so grateful for that. He hates the vet, and I hate to have to send him. It starts trust issues all over again in a vicious cycle. Those trust issues which go in a cycle never seem to fully heal. I would rather avoid it for me and for Jasper.

Spots has a new wound. I was able to get some peroxide on it. It is not too bad, so I think it will heal quickly.

Athena was walking through the goat pen, and I was not fast enough to get a picture, but Waldo was trying to head butt her to get her out of there. I laughed so hard. Athena did not seem to be bothered at all which made me laugh harder. She is a one-of-a-kind cat.

Oreo actually let Ronnie pet him. That never happens.
