Biology Lesson

Turkens are a type of chicken breed, they are also known as naked neck chickens. I guess I needed a biology lesson, or a genetics lesson, or something. Even though the hens and the roosters are all Turkens, they were still able to hatch regular baby chicks.  The momma sure did not want those chicks. She also did not want the chick that had a bad leg and was pecking on that baby. There was another one the momma stopped helping hatch, which did pass away and I am thinking it may have been a regular chick, too. I found one of the regular chicks outside the fence, hiding. Ronnie and I set up the baby chicks area again with food, water, and a heat lamp to hopefully save these babies. We will see what happens there. It is always an adventure for sure.
