It stopped snowing late in the day of course, but it did not get above freezing temps.
The donkeys were looking at the water trough when I got home. It looked like they were getting water. They kept looking at me like they wanted something, and they did, but I did not realize it until later.
I got to see the cats multiple times today in various places. I know they were trying to stay warm.
I thought the donkeys wanted extra feed, so I gave them extra feed. Nope, they were still hollering at me.
The cows and donkeys were doing their normal thing. Interestingly enough, the cows were not laying down in this cold weather. They usually do, but today was too cold.
I was surprised to see the chickens coming out to eat, but I knew they had to stay warm. I’m sure it was a combination.
Yeller was licking the ice to get water. As I watched him, I realized I had never seen any of the cats do that. I guess that is one way to get water though.
The cows had busted their water enough to drink. Every is frozen outside, so I busted up the other trough since I can’t get more water outside at the moment.
I busted up the goats water. Those little goats acted like they were super dehydrated and continued to drink until I had to bust more up for them. They were thirsty.
After I busted up the fainting goats water and the sheep water, they took advantage of that before it froze back up. Onyx and Athena also took avoid there being water. We should never take those essential things we have for granted.
The cats really did stay in the shop for a while today. It’s so cold out. The three of them played swap the crates for a while. They can be comical.
Noma was slow today. I know she is having some pain. I ended up taking her food to her.
The horses were able to get their own water through the ice. They ate hay all day. Thank goodness we are getting a load of hay on Friday.
The pigs wanted to eat quickly and get back in their houses. I’m so glad we put more straw in there for them. Their water situation wasn’t too good, but I was able to dump out the ice and there was water in the bottom of the troughs. When Ronnie came home, he filled two five gallon buckets from the bath tub and took it to the pigs. He said they were waiting at the water troughs for him. They took a drink and ran back to their houses.
The pasture goats were taking advantage of the donkeys not being by the hay bale. Carlos was literally on his back legs standing up eating from the top. Tell me animals aren’t smart. Hahahaha.
The donkeys were still hollering at me, so I went out there to see if I could figure out what was wrong with them. I should have realized sooner they needed water. I mean, they were gathered around the trough yelling. I think I assumed they would be able to get to water like the cows and horses, but nope. When I broke up the water they all went for it. Hercules was slurping that water as fast as he could. Poor things. Just a couple more days of this.
