October 6, 2025

The chicks were ready to be set free when I went toward the gate to open it. They got out of there as soon as they could. I am glad they still stay in there at night. There was a coyote on our property not long ago and Ronnie did find a bunch of feathers, and he thought something had maybe killed it.
I saw Athena and Yeller early.
I did attempt to get Gidget to start pecking on the pumpkin, but she was not having it. It will happen eventually; I just need to figure it out.
The donkeys came in this morning to get some water before going out to explore like they do every day. These animals all have a routine, and they know those routines. Having a routine does help to know what you need to do every day, but sometimes we need a break from that routine.
The dogs were ready to go inside before I went to work. They are getting older and possibly a little lazy.
One of the chicks found their way over to the donkey pasture. This time the donkeys left them alone.
I did finally see Onyx running around. I saw Athena and Yeller again later in the day.
I put water in Daisy's pool. She was so excited about that. She got in that pool before I finished filling it up.
I got both dogs to sit before I fed them. Ronnie has been teaching them to do that, but I had not been following through with it. So, I decided to work on that also. They do well with it.
I did get to love on Red a little bit today. He looked sad for some reason.
I picked up Gidget and was loving on her. I decided to take her over to the pumpkin again. I had put some chicken feed on the pumpkin to get them to peck on it. Once she started that, they all got in on that, and I had a jack o lantern. We will see what happens with that and if they finish getting the middle out of it.
May came out to get some fresh air this afternoon. That is a good thing. Means she is feeling better.
Ted is still not feeling well. I am watching him closely, but I do not know what to do for him. I hate when these animals are not feeling good.
The chicks finally decided to peck on that pumpkin. The pumpkin is starting to look like a jack o lantern. It is hilarious to watch. I am totally mesmerized by them eating the pumpkin. By the end of the night, it was finished. I could not believe my eyes.
The chicks did find their way back to the coop like they always do.
I saw Pete laying down in the corral off the barn. I am glad they sleep in the barn area. It just makes me feel better.
The moon was a full one. It was sure pretty.
I got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and saw a sight I was not prepared for. Ursula and Oreo were in one small animal bed together. Ursula usually kicks him out of the bed, but tonight I guess Oreo stood his ground and stayed there, so she just had to curl up with him. Those two could have a comedy show.
