5/17/24

My grandmother fell and broke her pelvis a couple of weeks ago. I decided I needed to go visit her and make sure she was doing okay. I always have a hard time with leaving home, but I knew I needed to go. I had to tell the cats in the home goodbye before I left. That drive gets to me, but I knew it was needed. It would be worth it. I knew that deep down. I got on the road and was in Arkansas by 4:30pm. It was good to be home for a day or so. It is always good to see family, even if the reasons aren’t always to fun.

5/16/24

The horses got a new hay bale yesterday. When I got out this morning, those horses were eating up that hay bale. They really have been going through the hay faster these days.

I got to play with some baby kittens at a patient’s house today. That always makes me happy. Kittens are cute.

The dogs were looking nervous when they ate. It did look like it was going to rain. It was going to pour at any minute.

The donkeys and goats did not seem to mind the rain clouds coming in. They do not worry about much honestly. They have all they need and they know it.

Hercules was out by the chicken coop eating the chicken feed. He still does that occasionally.

Mattie and Willow were following Ronnie across the pasture. That was a sight to see. I had to laugh.

The donkeys and goats did come in by the barn when the clouds were getting thicker.

The pigs were oblivious to what was going on with the clouds. They are funny little creatures.

The horses were giving me some attention today. That is always nice.

There is something about the clouds rolling in. Those clouds are gorgeous to watch.

Athena was sitting by a ground squirrel hole. She was not moving from that spot. She was watching so intensely.

Willow and Mattie were following me around today. They just crave attention. They make me laugh.

It did eventually rain.

Bella was sick this morning. When she started throwing up, the rest of the dogs made their way far away from her. Poor Bella. She was okay not long later.

Ronnie was able to put out a new hay bale today for the horses. They were happy about that. Those horses sure are pretty.

Mattie and Willow are definitely inseparable. I have no idea what I was worried about with those two. They are such good friends.

I watched Pete and Ned scratching each other’s back. I had seen Willow and Mattie do that, but I had not seen the rest of them do that. It was a surprise to see.

Red and Pedro were beautiful out in the pasture. I sure do love those donkeys.

5/14/24

It was a beautiful morning in West Texas. The animals were all roaming around with the green grass.

Mattie and Willow will not get away from each other even for a second. It really is sweet to watch those two.

Jelly was cute up on the hay bales. He is certainly cute and I do love to see him being at home.

Jeb will make me crazy. He was laying down with the other horses around him. It is an interesting thing to watch.

The chickens were having dust baths again today. They do like their little dust baths and their new little spa they have made themselves.

It was a hot day. The donkeys and goats were way out in the back of the pasture enjoying their day.

Athena let me pet her. That never happens. I cannot say she liked it, but I felt accomplished.

Noma seems to be happy in the pen. She gets to eat all her food and she is getting to rest. She needed that.

Jasper almost let Ronnie pet him. He might be getting over being mad at us for taking him to the vet. He did change his mind at the last second though.

The sky was gorgeous tonight. The colors were pink and purple in the clouds. You don’t see that everyday.

5/13/24

The hens have found them a dirt area to have their own dirt spa. Those chickens bathe in the dirt. They love it.

Ernestine is still not getting used to me. I would think she would be by now but that is not how it is going. My arm may be bruised for the rest of my life if she does not get used to me.

Oden decided to go try to terrorize the hens in the shop. I had a bunch of eggs on the freezer. Oden scared Melody and she ended up jumping up on the freezer and knocked off a few of the eggs. Melody ate a few of the eggs and I handed Ernestine an egg shell. She thought about it before deciding to eat it.

Yeller was staying by the crack in the doors to the shop. There was a small breeze going through there. He is one smart cat.

The pigs are all doing fine again today. No complaints from them.

Jelly decided to climb up on the hay bale and hang out. He is such a good cat.

It was a pretty night out. Most nights and mornings are pretty here in West Texas.

Bubba for some reason likes to be in the room with dogs. He does know better than to be in that room with Bella and Daisy, but sometimes he either forgets or tests it out.
