January 31, 2025

Today has been quite the day. I was trying to catch up on work today, so I got off later than normal. I then had to do some home health for my second job. I also had to go to the store. All the while, I still am not feeling well. Here is the kicker, my husband is also not well and ended up in the hospital while I was at work. He went to see the dr and they sent him to the ER and they admitted him. So, I was going to go see him and he told me if I did we would be in trouble because they would probably try to keep me, too, since I sound so awful.
I have some friends who had lambs last week and I got to see them today. I was sure excited to see them.

I finally get home and unload the car. The animals were all waiting on me and not happy. It was sure getting dark fast. I did get to see the cats. I rushed through feeding and watering as it got dark. Everything got done though.
I’m not sure about this year. It is not starting out too fantastic. I am going to work on staying positive though. That seems to help.

January 30, 2025

I went back to work today. Oh I’m exhausted. Ronnie is definitely sick now, too.
The wind was wild this afternoon.
The cats were home:
I was glad to see the coop chickens staying out of the wind in the doghouse.
The animals all hate the wind, but they are doing okay.
The sheep are better after being worked. They are wanting to eat again.
Ronnie and I fed as quick as we could to get back inside. We did not need to be out longer than that. We both need to be well. Makes it tough when we are both not feeling well and things still have to be completed. We are tough around here though and we get it done.
So, as I Went out to let the dogs out one last time, I decided to look for the cats. I think it’s an obsession since I have lost more than I ever care to. I saw Athena, Onyx, and Yeller. I opened the door to the shop and there sat Tux at the back. I have not seen him all winter. I actually was wondering the other day if he was even still around. I did not go near him but I did walk into the shop and talked to him. He never moved except his eyes. All three of the other cats were in the shop by then, too, so he was watching for them. I’m hoping he is warming up to me. It’s literally been years since he has been on the property. I would like to take him to the vet and get him checked out and all that good stuff. It was good to see Tux and know he is still around where he is safe.

January 29, 2025

It is a rainy day. I stayed home again today. I’m still not feeling well. Ronnie seems to be getting sick, too.
The animals all seemed okay, wet, but okay.
I did watch poor Noma for a bit. Poor old girl. She is just not doing well. She wants to lay around. The cows usually lay beside her. It’s nice to see the cows have her back. We all need someone who has our back in this life.
It’s funny. The sheep usual know when I open the curtains. They were staring at me. I had to laugh at them.
Jeb was watching something intently on the edge of the property. The other horses did not share his curiosity.
The sunset was beautiful again here in West Texas.

January 28, 2025

Obviously I did not go to work today. I feel worse today than I did the day couple of days.
The dogs wanted to check on me when I would go near them.
Ursula is the definition of a Velcro cat. She stays close to me most of the time. She also reminds me of Persia so much. It’s obvious that I needed this cat and I’m grateful I found her. Sometimes things fall into place when we least expect it.

January 27, 2025

I woke up Monday still not feeling well. I ended up going to the dr. Apparently bronchitis was the verdict. No wonder I feel bad.

January 26, 2025

I woke up feeling terrible again. Just terrible. Ursula and Oreo stayed with me. They are so sweet.
Noma gave me attention because I spoil her by giving her her own bucket of feed. My grandma always said spoil meant well loved and Noma sure deserves it.
The pasture goats found a big enough hole in the fencing to get through the fence. Since they could get through, they did get through. They are brave. The horses were mad. Mattie was busy eating and I’m glad because he does not like goats. Ronnie was able to walk the goats back through the gate. Hercules ran right back around and jumped through the hole. I got there before the other two could come back through. As Ronnie was fixing the fence, Hercules went back over with his friends.
The other animals are good, except the sheep, so they got worked.
And, the cats were all home.
