January 3, 2025

It was such a beautiful morning on the farm. Most mornings around here are, but I try to appreciate each one. The sun was shining bright and then it turned cloudy within a few minutes. I know there is a cold front coming in this weekend. Looks like it is already starting.
The cats all graced me with their presence this afternoon. I look for them daily. Always have and always will.
I went out into the pasture to check the pig’s water and Lucky followed me back toward the barn. I think he might have thought the other animals followed, but they did not. When he realized they didn’t, he stopped and watched for them. They finally did show up.
The donkeys kept staring at me. I didn’t know what they wanted, but I knew they wanted something. I ended up giving them some hay. They were grateful for the hay, except they had to fight over it. There was plenty of hay. I actually watched Pete try to kick the other donkeys. That does not happen often.
I have been giving Noma her own feed in a bucket instead of her fighting the other animals for food. She isn’t looking too well these days. I was able to pet her for a little while. Once she got tired of it, she turned around like she was going to kick me. That’s my cue to walk away.
I went into the horse pasture to move the feed trough. There was a point in life when I would not do that. Now I’m not fearful and do it all the time. I was able to love on some horses while I was there. Overcoming fears is not easy, but it can be done.
The goats and sheep are not having any complaints.
The chickens may be laying eggs in the overgrown weeds in the backyard. Wouldn’t that be something if we had some eggs hatched in the weeds?
Yeller was all curled up in the crate. He sure does like that one spot.
The pigs were not thrilled that they ate last. Those guys make me laugh. At least they got to eat.
The moon was interesting tonight. I got to see Mars tonight also. I actually got to see a shooting star, but I was unable to get a photo of that. Those things are fast.
