May 31, 2025

There are still only 2 chicks with Olga. I gave them more food and water.
I had some people out today to help with things. We accomplished quite a bit. That always feels good. One thing we did was work on making a bigger mud hole for the pigs. They are going to need it before long. It gets super hot here. I know they will appreciate it.
Ronnie did get us more chicks today. He got some cinnamon queens and sapphire olive eggers. They are so pretty.
Red was up and in the pasture. That is a good sign. He did go lay down and then he got back up again, but he is not putting too much weight on his back R leg.
Daisy found another egg. Where is she getting them? I may have found out.
The horses all got wormed today and a new hay bale.
The roosters were fighting, so I sprayed them with water until they calmed down.
I did see the cats today.
Not much went on today, we were just busy with all the farm work.

May 30, 2025

I went out to check on the chicks before going to work. They were under Olga, so I did not see anything. Bill tried to follow me out of the gate though. He is silly and just wanted to follow me.
I did get to see the cats before I went to work.
Meridia and Melody were fighting yesterday, but today they were wondering around the front yard together. I guess they made up. It is good do forgive and forget.
When I got home I checked on hen and the chicks, she still only has two. If the other ones do not hatch within the next few days, I will take the eggs from her. That will be a fight, but some of the other eggs should have hatched by now and they have not.
My favorite cactus has berries of some kind on it. It is such a unique cactus to see.
I got to see a male and female cardinal while I was looking out the window. They sure are pretty.
Red was up some this evening. I am happy to see that. He does continue to get tired and he goes and lays down somewhere. I found him in the barn.
The dogs and cats were all waiting for me when feeding time came. Everyone was waiting. I was super late feeding since I was waiting on someone to come out to show them again how to feed. They were fine once they got fed.
Ronnie brought home some black star chicks. They sure are cute.
I saw a baby bunny hopping across the pasture.
I checked on the chicks later in the evening and they were doing fine. I think Ronnie is going to go get more tomorrow.

May 29, 2025

I went out to check on the chicks before work. Both of them were under Olga staying warm. I gave her more food and water. The donkeys were watching me closely.
The cats were home, and getting along.
Daisy found another egg. I have no idea where she found that one.
Red looked like he was up more today. They were way out in the pasture. He did lay back down in the pasture, but he did make it back to the barn.
The pigs are all okay.
Some of the chickens are smart enough to steal some of the feed I had out for the other animals.
Olga still only has two chicks. That surprises me, but that is what I saw. Fred was guarding them later when I went to check on them.
A storm was rollling in. All the cats were all home. Ronnie even saw Tux. I watched the lightning and listened to the thunder for a long time. It was lightning a lot. West Texas can use some rain, but it was sprinkling with lots of lightning and lots of thunder. I enjoy watching lightning. Enjoy the little things in life when you can. I take it back, it rained quite a bit.

Red was up when I saw the donkeys. That is a good thing. It is going to take time to heal,  who knows what happened there. The other donkeys are continuing to protect him. It’s nice to see how good of friends they are. Protect those around you when you can. Sometimes people need that, just like these animals.
Yeller was out in the pasture. I was yelling at him to get himself back home. He did listen and decided to come on back home. Onyx and Athena were home, too.
A dragonfly flew onto my hand. That was a beautiful moment.
It was a hot one for sure. The goats were in the barn trying to stay cool in the shade. The donkeys were at the back pasture. Red was laying down. The other donkeys were in the shelter with the fan.
We have chicks, only two, but they are cute. I gave them all some food and water since Olga is still sitting on the eggs. I had to throw out some corn for the other chickens, and sheep to keep them from eating all that feed for the mom and babies, it worked for a few minutes. Wheezy ended up eating with them and Olga did not seem to mind.
Red did get up. He finally just went to the barn and laid down. I went and loved on him. I know he will be okay, but I hate to see any of these animals hurt or in pain.
The pigs are taking advantage of their mud holes.
Willow was sweet with giving me attention. She is sure a wild one.
The two cows are so funny. They were hanging out in the hay. Those two could be called lazy, but I say they just know how to relax. Wouldn’t that be nice, being able to relax?
Ursula did run out again. She is crazy. I do not know what she wants. At this point, I do not think she knows what she wants.

May 27, 2025

It was a cooler morning. I got to see Yeller and Athena before work.
It looked like rain again. The donkeys and goats were grazing away in the pasture. The horses were also eating hay with the clouds rolling in.
We did get 20 more bales of hay last night. That will last us for a bit. I am grateful we have been able to continue to do that. Be thankful for the big things and the small things in life, they are all important.
I did see all the cats.
Melody decided to lay her egg in the shop. The wheel barrow was turned over, so she could not lay under there.
The horses finally dumped over the water trough. They like to put their feet in the water trough to cool off. Today it turned over. I was able to clean it out and get it back upright.
Red is not feeling too well. Ronnie noticed him laying down on Saturday. Red does not normally do that. When I got home this afternoon, Red was up. When I went back out to feed and water, Red was laying down. I decided to keep an eye on him. When I finished feeding, I noticed Red was down again. I went over to check on him. He looks like his back right leg is bothering him. He did not want to get up. I left him alone for a few minutes.
I went over to check the pig water. Treat was walking back and forth like she was mad about something. Treat tried to lay down so I could pet her, but she was too far away. Gus took that moment to get my attention. They are so jealous of each other.
I watched Red lay down, like fully lay down. I was a little nervous.  He was not even paying attention to me yelling at him. I decided to walk down to where he was. He did sit up when I got closer, but he did not want to get up. I hugged him and loved on him. As I turned around, I saw the other donkeys and goats getting closer to me. I watched as Ned went over to Red and started nipping at him to get up. He did get up. It was amazing to see that. Find those friends who are going to get you up when you are down. Red did stay up for a while. When Ronnie got home, he looked at him and said the right back leg was swollen. I am sure him and another donkey got into it. He should be fine.
