Daisy found an egg somewhere, I have no idea where in the backyard. Daisy ate that raw egg without a second thought.
The hens were enjoying dirt baths in this heat.
Olga is still sitting, but she does have eggs that get out from under her somehow. I did not try to move them back after the pecking I got yesterday. Forget that.
I noticed Noma was not moving around much. When I got closer she was automatically defensive and was looking like she was going to kick me. I then saw she was somehow stuck in some string. I ran to get some meds and scissors to cut her free. She was definitely stuck and she was not going to be able to get free without help. I was able to put peroxide on the cut from the string. Poor girl.
I did have to put up the sunshade in one of the pig pens from the wind. I know the pigs will appreciate that to give them more space to stay out of the sun. The other pigs are fine.
I found some eye meds for Alex and was able to get that in his eye. Did I mention eye stuff is not my thing? I do not do eye stuff well, but I got it done. He was not happy about it either, so at least we have that in common. Sometimes we have to do the things we do not want to, but it will pay off in the end.
There was also some fencing that was coming loose, so I put that back together so the sheep did not run out. I do not think they will. The last time that happened, it was not good.
I got Tinkerbelle and Cinderella’s sunshade put back up, too. The wind storms have been bad the last few days. I fixed what I could.
I do have a hen who was way out in the pasture. I sure hope she made it back. That could be how we are losing some of our hens. I think we are going to get some more babies this weekend.
