Ronnie and I got on a plane and came back to Texas. We did stop off and see some family while we were in the area and are driving home as I type this. You know we are tired and probably are not going to do much tomorrow and that’s okay. 

I got some animal photos earlier today. The animals are fine. I always know they will be fine, but they are my life, so it’s hard to leave even to help with my own mental health. I know I have to take care of myself and take a break sometimes. 

August 30, 2025

Vacation is still going. Ronnie and I know how to pack in a lot of stuff in a short amount of time. Today we got up and left Deadwood and went to see the Sundance Kid in Sundance, Wyoming. From there we went to see the Devil’s Tower which was super cool. We even got to see people rock climbing up the side of that. the Devil’s Tower was the first National park made by Teddy Roosevelt. It was such a neat thing to see. There was also a prairie dog town at the bottom to Devil’s tower, so we watched them for a bit. They are fun to watch. We then went up to Montana to mark that state off, too. It is crazy how the landscaping changes with each state. It’s interesting, too. We ended up in Rapid City to eat and sleep to go home tomorrow. We needed some rest after all of that. We got to see a lot. 

The animals are still doing good. I always hate to ask someone to watch the animals and take care of them, but I know those people who do take care of them know what they are doing. 

August 29, 2025

Ronnie and I got up and drove to Sturgis and then to North Dakota and had lunch. That marks another state off of our list. I will say though, there is not much to see on the road to North Dakota. It was a lot of nothingness. Literally just open fields and hay bales. It was pretty. We then made it back South Dakota and went to Belle Fourche to see the middle of the US monument and then to the historical DC Booth Hatchery in Spearfish and then to Deadwood to check that out. We had a good time. It has been fun but we are tired. 

The animals are all doing fine. I have been keeping up with them. 

August 28, 2025

Vacation is going great. We have seen a lot of things already. We have been to Rapid city, SD. We went to see Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monument. We saw a Buffalo in Custer State Park. We went down the scenic Iron Mountain Rd in the black hills. There is some beautiful scenery here. We then went to the Oglala Lakota Reservation. We saw the badlands and made it to the Wounded Knee Monument and then on to Pine Ridge. We also saw a gorgeous sunflower field there. We went ahead and ended up back in Nebraska for a few miles and then drove back up to Rapid City for the night. We were exhausted and went to bed. 

I got updates on all the animals. They are doing well. I am so glad I have a good friend who can help out when we are gone.
