I get a text from Ronnie saying Darla got out. I was confused because it was 2pm. How in the world did she get out? When I got home, Ronnie told me the story. He had gotten home and saw Mattie and Willow intently looking at something. He then goes to look in the pasture and sees a hog. He said he decided to inspect it further because the hog was wagging the tail. Turns out, it was Darla. Ronnie got some feed and she went into the corral in the donkey barn. I did finally get her to the right side of the fence and she willingly went back into the pen. He said the first thing she did was jump into the water like a belly flop. Ronnie said the other pigs were yelling at her. She knows better. Ronnie put some concrete and a railroad tie out there so she could not get out again. That girl is a mess. I went down there and she just laid down. I gave her some belly rubs after getting onto her. I also got to pet on Bacon Bit and Brutus. The other ones did not care I was down there. I am glad Ronnie was home and was able to fix the problem so Darla cannot escape again. I swear, they normally are very happy, so I do not know what happened today. Sometimes when we get an opportunity, good or bad, we take it without thinking; we should probably think it through before getting in too deep. Darla may have learned that today.
It was raining when I got home. It did not rain long. Just long enough to make it unbearably humid.
The donkeys and goats wanted nothing to do with the rain, so they were in the barn.
Ollie gave me some attention. So did Lovey. I can count on those two every day.
May was still in the pen with the fainting goats. She seemed like she was doing fine.
Jasper’s abscess may have opened. it is a little smaller, but I can see there is still a way to go. He is still eating and drinking without any problem. That is a good thing.
Jeb still has some weird injury. It is not slowing him down either.
I had not seen Fred lately and was worried about him. I did find him today. He was hiding out. He is looking a little better, believe it or not.
Gus did finally get the mud hole into the shelter, just about the whole way. That is so funny to me. He made it. Now someone has to sleep in the mud or outside the shelter.
I also have this problem with forgetting if I locked the pig pen or not, so I had to go out and see if I locked it. I had, Go figure.
