August 4, 2025

Who knew chickens were so picky? The chicks do not like my turquoise nail polish. They are trying to peck off my nail polish. They are still not staying out of my bubble. I just have to laugh about it.
Onyx was up by the house staying in the shade. I am sure it is cooler up there, but I do not know how. It is super hot out. I do believe around 100 or 102. Summertime is here. I did see Athena and Yeller, too. They were both in cooler spots also. Athena was under the deck and Yeller was under the outside building before he heard me outside.
The donkeys and goats were following me around the pasture.
The chicks are still at it. It is so hot out. I have been spraying the ground with cold water to allow them to cool off. Of course it helps them.
I do not know what is going on with Fred. I know I have said that. Today is foot is all bloody from losing his other spur. What in the world? I know it has to be the other roosters. I wish they would stop it. Most of the time they stay separated. Fred is still up and about though.
The pigs are loving the water. They sure do need it. Ronnie and I fill those things up daily. They look like lakes these days.
It is hot, but everyone is hanging in there.
May is doing okay.
I will say, I left a dozen eggs in an egg crate on top of the freezer in the shop. Those hens knocked it off on purpose to try to get to the eggs. Somehow the egg crate did not open, so they got nothing out of there. Well, 4 out of 12 were broken, so the hens got them. I washed off the rest of them. It was not much fun.
