August 22, 2025

The morning was beautiful beyond belief. Pictures do not do the sunsets or sunrises justice out here. It is so pretty.

I really spoke too soon when I said the blister beetles were not as bad this year. Oh, they are. They are everywhere and they stink so badly. Yuck.

I went outside for a minute to get something out of my car, and I hear this noise that sounds like a dying animal. I could not figure out what it was. Of course, you know I went to investigate. (My husband says I would be the first to die in a horror movie. He could be right.) I saw Jeb nudging something. There for a minute I could not figure out what it was. Turns out, it was Fred. Jeb and the other horses were trying to get rid of him. I saw Jeb almost get him a couple of times. I did rescue Fred. Poor guy cannot catch a break. Just a friendly reminder, do not kick people when they are down.

The donkeys were acting happy today. Pedro was irritated, but I gave him some chicken feed, and he was okay. He was not irritated at me. Ronnie was watching the scene. I think he might have been a tad nervous by the way Pedro was acting. Pedro is a mess that is for sure. I also think he has something weird going on with his ears. I do not know what though.

May was in the goat shelter. I am glad she is feeling better and is feeling like getting up and around more.

I did see Onyx this afternoon. I did not see the other two, but Ronnie said he had seen them, so I am not going to worry about it today.

All the pigs were where they were supposed to be. That is a win.

Jasper's neck started draining, finally. It does not look good, but it does look smaller. He has not slowed down with all of this going on. He is still eating, drinking, and moving around without a problem. That's a good thing.
