Stray Dog

Well, we had another stray dog at the facility where I work. That happens more often than it should I tell you. I hate it. Our maintenance man usually feeds them when they are here. There was something about this one. I sure did not want the animal control to come and get her. She was super scared. My heart broke seeing her the way she was. She was literally sleeping on the sidewalk. Luckily for her it was warmer outside. I have so many animals to take care of already, I knew I could not take her. One of the girls at work decided she would take her home. You could tell the dog was starving. It just breaks my heart. So, the day she decided to take her home, we got her over to the yard where my office is and worked on trust. The girl who was taking her home was the only one who could really get close to her. It was like they had an instant connection. The dog did finally warm up to me, too, but not like she did my friend. Long story short, when the time came for my friend to get her in the car to take her home, the dog was terrified. I had a leash for whatever reason in my office and the girl was able to (finally after chasing the dog for a bit, me on one side and her on the other) get the leash on her and pick her up and put her in the car. I was so happy. And it all happened at a good time because that night it was storming and it got cold. The dog's name is now Cinnamon. She has been to the vet and checked out. She is being fed and is in a nice home with people who will take care of her. Cinnamon knows she found a good spot, that was why she trusted my friend. It breaks my heart for people to mistreat animals. This dog even knows commands and was house trained. Why would you dump an animal after putting all that love and effort into them? Why break their hearts and make them wonder what they did to deserve that? No animal deserves to be treated that way. This is why shelters are full. People continue to breed their dogs, and this is what happens. Spay and neuter your pets. There are not enough homes for the dogs and cats out on the streets. It is not fair to them. Rant over. This dog that was dumped had a happy ending, most of them do not.
