August 30

The dogs ran out of the house and Bella started chasing the chickens. Daisy started to, but stopped for some reason.

The cats were hanging out in the shade in the front of the house. They take advantage of those cooler spots.

Willow is loving trying to aggravate Mattie. Mattie is not taking the bait though and is good at ignoring her.

The dogs are all hanging in there. Pepper and Maggie are still not feeling well but they are up and around.

I filled up the dogs water. Daisy has to be halfway in the water bowl to drink it. It’s so funny.

When I took Mattie some hay, I dropped Willow some and she finally found it and did not have to share it.

Jasper is still not acting right. He is breathing funny and he is taking longer to eat. He also has more saliva coming out. I don’t know what the problem is, but there is one.

I saw an interesting sight. There was a small wild bird drinking from the chickens water. I did not even scare it until I went into the coop.

Tinkerbelle and Cinderella are still doing well. I saw them eating together tonight. They have a cute relationship.
Tinkerbelle cares for Cinderella like she is her kid.

The sheep are so fun to watch. They were jumping up on the gate wanting food. Those two are a highlight on the farm with big personalities.

The little goats are still so bonded. They are doing so well here. They are so loved.

Noma has been eating the cow feed with Jasper. Jasper is not eating as fast, so her and Willow help him out. Since Noma and Willow are taking his food, he decides to go take theirs. Then when Alex gets finished with his food, he bullies Jasper and takes the rest of the donkey food.

Willow showed a playful side and was playing with Noma tonight. It was fun to watch them playing. Noma needs a break. I can’t wait for Mattie to get out of the pen so he can play with Willow.

Takua has been really skinny this summer, but he is starting to put on weight. I’m so grateful.

The pigs were last to eat and they were not patiently waiting. I find that funny. They did get their feed though and they were fine.

Willow was trying to play with the pigs today. She has been trying lately, but they won’t give her any attention.

Willow is making friends through the fence with the donkeys. They were all watching the horses eat. They were interested in those horses. Well, probably not the horses, but the feed.

Noma does this thing where she almost lays flat. She terrifies me doing that.

I watched the goats tonight going across the pasture without the donkeys. They do not do that too often. They usually stay close to the barn or the donkeys. I wonder where they were going.

I noticed the cats in the tall weeds. I don’t normally see them in there. I wanted to see what they were doing. Well, they were chasing a baby ground squirrel. The baby tried to hide between my feet. I moved and it went running. Onyx chased it into the pasture and then back and then out in the pasture, around the tree. By the time onyx caught the squirrel they were both tired. Onyx gave up and the squirrel got away. Thank goodness.

The horses finished their hay bale and when they got finished with their feed, they were looking at me like where’s the hay?? They looked pitiful. Ronnie came home late, so we were not able to put another bale out.

There was also a full moon out tonight. It was bright and beautiful.

August 29

I saw all the cats at home this afternoon and they were all eating together. It warms my heart when I see them together.

There are so many chickens here again. I noticed them all grouped together eating and it looked like chaos.

I love to see the animals out in the pasture. It does my heart some good to see. They seem so happy.

Chief’s eye is starting to look better. It is still draining and he does not keep it opened often, but it is better.

I saw Ronnie spending a few minutes with his horse. They do have a bond.

Mattie still seems to be enjoying his solitude. He gets to eat all his own food and doesn’t have to mess with the cows. He has not acted like he was upset about it. I’m ready to get him out of there though. I don’t like it, but he is fine.

Jeb started throwing his feed out while he is eating again. The chickens were enjoying that until he ran them off. I had to laugh about that.

Takua is back to eating with the girls. He may have just not liked the stuff we were adding for more protein. Once we stopped that, he went back to eating with them.

I was able to love on Chief tonight. He is such a loving horse. I love to pet on him.

Noma let me pet her again today. Willow got jealous and had to get in the middle of it. That made me laugh.

Willow is a mess and has a hundred different faces. She is entertaining.

Noma is trying to wean Willow and Willow had to go pout. She is not happy about it and Noma is doing her best to get her weaned. Willow is not giving up on nursing.

Tinkerbelle is loving her retirement. She is such a happy girl.

August 28

Oh Ursula, she is such a brat some days. Lately she has been pulling down the curtains right before my alarm goes off. That’s aggravating, but I sure do love her.

It was another beautiful morning here in west Texas. The sunrises are beautiful and so are the sunsets.

I saw Pete today. He is getting friendlier. I did notice today Willow looks so much like Pete. They could be twins. They are half siblings.

Pedro and Red are still fighting. I know donkeys do that. This time it was over my attention, again. They can make me crazy.

Yeller sure has made this his home and I love that so much. He is such a sweet cat. He is terrified of all humans, except me. I am his person. When I pick him him, he just melts into me. It is so sweet.

Jelly has been more comfortable in the backyard with the dogs. Every time I see him in the backyard, I think back to my ER visit from Jelly because he was terrified of the dogs.

The animals make this place such a beautiful place to be. I love them being here.

The pigs are all still doing well. No complaints from them. They seem happy.

Jasper is acting off. I’m going to have to keep my eye on him.

August 27

Today was not too terrible. The temp was much better. That makes me so happy. We have been praying for that.
I saw Yeller laying in the hiding spot the chicken are usually in. He is so cute.

Jelly, Yeller, and Onyx all came in to eat while we were feeding. I know they are eating, but they are so skinny. I know it’s because it’s been so hot out.

Mattie scared me a bit when I went outside. I think the animals all do it to me on purpose. When they are laying on their side not moving it terrifies me. When he heard the gate, he lifted his head. He was fine.

Chief is starting to open that eye more. It’s still foggy but it is looking better. I hope he is okay. I wish I knew what happened to him. I wish I knew what to do for him. As I watched him later, his eye is always closed when he is eating. I just don’t know.

It must be rut season for goats or something. Lucky stinks so bad. He is our only uncut male.

Cinderella let me pet her again. Let me might be a strong word, but I did get to pet her. Later I saw her with string in her mouth and had to get it from her. I was able to do that.

It is working better with Takua having his own bowl. Him and Jeb have bowls right beside each other and they share one bowl and go to the other. It’s funny to watch.

Willow comes to visit Mattie often. Noma came over to visit today also. It’s a sweet little family.

The cows are not as happy as they have been lately. I don’t know what’s going on with them. I’m sure it’s the weather lately.

Ronnie did some grilling outside and left the tongs outside. Jelly found the tongs and whatever was on there, he ate it.
