July 7, 2025

May was sitting upright in the shop. I hope she continues to get better daily.
The little chicks are learning to do dirt baths. I find it interesting that animals just have the instincts to do what they need to do. Again, they are smarter than some people think they are.
The donkeys were way out in the pasture this morning just grazing away.
Somehow a few of the chicks got out of the coop. I am lucky they were not harmed by a cat or another chicken. That is a good sign. I did get them back in the coop. I missed it, but Ronnie found a hole where they were getting out and he fixed it. I did get to love on a baby chick. They do not like it any more than the bigger ones, but I want to make them love me. I know that is not how it works. You cannot make someone love you in the real world, you can try, but it will not work. Chickens on the other hand, let's see if I can make it work.
May was getting too hot this afternoon, so I brought her out in the fresh air. She was not happy about that, but I did it anyway. I tried to put her in with the chicks to know she was protected and out in the cooler air, but none of them were having it. I ended up giving May hugs. I wanted to hug a chicken. She was not impressed.
The pigs are all dried out from the rain. They are doing well. They still have their ponds to cool off in, so they do not complain.
The donkeys and goats were loving the green grass. It is a blessing for us to see the green grass. I know they appreciate it, too. I am pretty sure we did not have green grass much at all last year, so this is a treat. Count your blessings, there will be more than you think they will.
May has not been eating much, so I cracked an egg. She did not eat much of it, but she did eat some of it. That is a plus.
