July 19, 2025

I did get to see Athena and Onyx this morning, but not Yeller.
For Ronnie’s birthday, we went on an adventure. Now, our adventures are one of a kind. This one lasted 16 hours. We set out and stopped in Fort Stockton to see the big statue of a road runner. We then went down to Terlingua Ghost Town and had some lunch and checked it out. The scenery is beautiful. Then we stopped at Big Bend Ranch State Park and climbed up to a scenic overlook which we could see Santa Elena Canyon. As we continued on, we were down at the Texas/Mexico border which is the Rio Grande. The scenery there was gorgeous. We went down the scenic drive FM 170 (River Road) from Terlingua to Presidio, that is one of America’s top ten scenic drives. We did see the border crossing and we did have to go through a border patrol check point in Presidio. We saw Abraham Lincoln’s profile on Hwy 67 in the mountains. Went through another ghost town, Shafter. We kept going and ended up in Marfa, TX. Saw Fort Davis and the Balmorhea Swimming pool which is created by a natural spring. And then we came on home. We may be tired today, but it was worth it. Everyone needs a break at times.
Luckily, I have good friends who went over and took care of the animals for us while we had a day trip.
We got home after midnight, but I saw Yeller in the backyard.
