September 5

Jeb was doing fine this morning. I have to say, I’m still a little upset with him.

Jasper’s swelling is going down a bit. I’m so grateful for that.

I saw a road runner up close for the first time. That was an experience.

I was petting willow and Noma came right over to get in the mix. Oh that’s such a great experience. I wasn’t sure we would get there.

The sky was beautiful and then it started lighting. No rain, just lightning and thundering.
We have been focusing on the walk this week since it is coming up quick. I’m a nervous wreck.

September 4

Ronnie cleaned all day today since we did not get it done this weekend and we have people coming to town this coming weekend. He did a great job, but he wanted to clean more after we got finished feeding. Well, that did not happen.
So, we have this toxic plant in the pastures, which I haven't seen since spring this year. Apparently it makes them act high. Jeb was stumbling and acting confused but then had the signs of colic so we started treating him. Ronnie had to run to the store to get more supplies and he was still in the same spot and we could not get him up. He finally got up and Ronnie started walking him like you would for a horse with colic. We noticed the minute he wasn't high anymore. It was like he snapped out of it and wanted food. It was a complete turn around. His eyes were clear and his ears were up. He wanted food and he ate every bit of it and then drank some water. If it was colic, he would not have eaten. Oh I was so mad at him. I’m glad he was fine though. He did this a lot a few years ago. There has only been one other time this year we went through it this year.

I finished cleaning while Ronnie was at the store.

September 3

Most Sundays I do laundry, pay bills, catch up on paperwork, and try to relax. I was able to relax some today and do some writing. I need that every week. I also did some stuff for the walk coming up this weekend.
The animals were all doing fine this evening. It was hot out, but they were all fine.

Jasper looked a little better, but whatever is in his neck, I’m praying about it. I’m hoping it will go away on its own. I don’t want to have to drain an abscess and I am praying he does not have a goiter. It’s stressful.

Jeb has some weird skin thing going on right now. I have no idea what that is about.

Noma let me pet her again. I think we are making good progress.

Bubba loves Ronnie so much and has to be next to him at all times.

Oreo got inside the bedroom with Ursula. Apparently he is scared of her because he just rolled over while she was slapping him.

September 2

It was warmer today than it has been this week. It was not as bad as it has been, but it was hot.
The horses were all hanging out together today. I went over to pet them and love on them.

Takua is really looking better. I am relieved.

Persia can sleep anywhere. She was on rags and a box of cokes and sound asleep.

Maggie is not doing good. She had a bad day today. It takes a toll on all of us to see that. I’m hoping tomorrow is better. Today was a bad day.

Jeb and Chief were eating together again. I have no idea what that is about.

Jasper is still swollen. It’s hard in there. It’s like the size of a cantaloupe. I took some pictures and someone Ronnie talked to said it looks like an abscess. I’m the only one that can get close to him, so if that’s the case, I may have to drain it. That makes me nervous.

Noma is still trying to wean Willow. Willow is still not having it. She is still trying to nurse. I saw Noma kick her right in the face trying to get her off of her.

Well, dove season started today and so people all around us were hunting. The animals were extremely nervous with all the gun shots. Mattie and Willow were running constantly. The horses started in also. There was nothing I could do, but they were extremely upset.

September 1

The moon was still out this morning. It was still pretty up in the sky.

I was able to spray the horses tonight. They still love that and will fight over the hose. I watched Saverine bite Spots to get out of the way.

I have been able to love on Saverine and Spots. When they first got here, I would have never thought that would have happened. They wanted nothing to do with us. Things have changed. They seem to love us now.

I noticed Jasper has a very swollen neck. He has an area that is hard. It cannot be comfortable. Ronnie thought it might be a goiter. I have no idea. I just know it needs to be taken care of. No wonder he has been acting funny and like he does not feel good.

Ned was working on eating some chicken feed. They all try to eat the chicken feed when I put it out over there. I don’t do it all the time.

Noma let me pet her again. I think we are making some progress these days.

Pepper is still not feeling too well. She has her good days and her bad. Today was a good day for her.

Ronnie sure does take care of those pigs. Back in Arkansas he did not deal with the pigs much, but now he does just about every day.

Willow demanded attention from Ronnie again tonight. She is so confident about it. He makes sure to give her the attention she wants.

For some reason Chief has not been as hostile about feed. Him and Jeb were eating together tonight. I haven’t seen that in a long time.

The donkeys and goats looked like they were all hanging out together tonight. I know they do that all the time, but I remember a time when the donkeys hated the goats and tried to chase them down. That doesn’t happen anymore.

Tinkerbelle is just loving life. Her favorite place is under the sunshade. It’s hilarious to watch her.

Ronnie put out a new hay bale for the cows. They did not put on a production like they normally do, but it’s probably because Jasper is not feeling well.

The horses also got a new hay bale. They were excited and did not wait for the bale to get off the tractor before eating in it.

August 31

When I went out this morning, all the horses were looking at something. I never did figure out what it was.

Onyx and Athena were on top of the hay bales this morning. That always cracks me up.

I saw Lester tonight. He is looking good. He has healed up well from his last fight.

I watched the donkeys and goats in the pasture. It always make me feel so much gratitude watching them. They are happy and healthy. They could have had such a different fate, but they are here and loved.

The chickens were eating with the sheep today. I spilled a little and they ate it up.

Takua is looking so much better. He is moving in a positive direction with his weight. That makes me so grateful.

Willow loves Ronnie. She always walks over and demands his attention.

Chloe is acting weird. She is staying out in the horse pasture lately. I have no idea why. She is out there alone. It’s just weird.
Mattie looks like he has lipstick on when he is eating. I noticed that not too long ago. It cracks me up.

Chief’s eye is still looking better. I have been praying. The prayers have been working.

We have so many roosters again. I have no idea what we are going to do. They need a new home.
