This weather is just not normal. It has rained so much in the last couple of months I just don’t know what to do anymore. I feel so bad for my animals. My husband has built shelters for all of them to keep them out of the rain. Russ still refuses to use any of them and stays in a dog house. The pigs are still working on excepting Darla and it’s been a couple of weeks. It’s better but I hate it for her. She is so sweet, she refuses to fight back. She has a house all to herself. Well, it flooded the last time it rained. I cleaned out all of the straw and put new in for her. I think it is where the house is placed, but that was the dry spot when it was built. Today, my husband put a floor in Darla’s house for her. I am so grateful and I know she is also. He has a soft spot for her and has decided to build her her own pen next time he is home if the other pigs are still mean to her. It’s really nothing abnormal, pigs just have to figure it out. Things are so much better than they were. I know it will work out.

Sunday afternoon Carlos and Lucky got out. How they did it, I do not know. It doesn’t surprise me though. Mya and I had been watching for this. Somehow they got out when we were not watching. Sneaky little things. So they were at the back of the fencing eating off the trees. Mya went to get them. Now, Lucky is my goat that does not like human contact. That in itself is funny since the rest of them do. He sees her and starts walking in front of her. She has Carlos in her arms like a baby. I’m laughing so hard!! Carlos acts like he likes it. I tell her she can lean over the fencing and just put him in the pen. She does, but how to get lucky back in. That’s the big question. I walk over to him and he jumps in front of me but walks on the path back to the gate. We get almost to the gate and off the trail he goes. I go in the feed barn and get some grain for them to eat. Well, that brings the rest of the herd to the gate. Mya hoes in to distract them. Nope, she doesn’t have any food for them. So I dump out some grain. Lucky just leans his head into the fence to get him some. Good grief they are smart. Next I go get peanuts. I start a trail for him. Then I start throwing some to the herd and leave the gate opened. After a few minutes, the herd is away from the gate and so are the humans. He sneaks in and Mya was able to close the gate. Whew. This will be fun.
I think I have figured out the goats getting out. A couple of months ago, Ronnie took Hercules and Carlos out of the pen to eat down some of the leaves and tall grass around. He tied them up to keep them where we needed them to eat the leaves and grass. They seemed to enjoy it. Ronnie did this several times. It was a great idea. I think the goats decided they liked it a lot and now are just doing it on their own. It is really funny to me.

Patsy the pig is such a precious thing. She is a little slow but she is such a sweet pig. Yesterday I was giving the animals hay to eat. I don’t do that much, but I thought it was a nice treat for them. They really do love it. So last night I threw the hay over the fencing. It had been raining for a couple of days so the mud is horrible. Patsy did not want her hay on the ground, she picked it up and put it in a bowl. I’m not kidding. It did end up on the ground because pork chop wanted it so Patsy high-tailed it out of there with the hay in her mouth. It was hilarious. Tonight, I gave them some more hay. This time, I put it in the bowls. Well, Patsy didn’t want it in that bowl, she picked it up and moved it to another bowl. It was so funny to watch her. She makes me laugh. I went over and petted her while she was eating and she actually let me. Sweet little girl.

Funny post coming. Cracker Jack, my donkey does this thing when he is mad at me, or anyone. He walks up to you and then turns his back on whoever it is and throws his head up in the air just like a teenager would when mad. To me, I find it hilarious. So, yesterday I let all of the goats out except lucky and then Cracker Jack. Mya and I were fixing the clips on the fencing and putting stakes in. That donkey seriously came right up to the fence, and turned his rear end right to us. Keep in mind, we were bending down so his rear was right in our faces!! I laughed so hard at that. It was like he was saying, ok, you let everybody else out so I want to go, too. I eventually caved and let him out. He got his point across. Spoiled brat!!
It has been such an exciting few days around here on the farm. I have written about Hercules getting out on Friday. I got up yesterday morning and fed all of the animals. As it turns out, all the goats were in the pen. So, it started off as a good day. Mya and I started cleaning the house. It feels so good to have a clean house. Anyway. I look out the window and there is Hercules, out of the pen. I really had to laugh. He doesn’t go anywhere. He literally is right out of the pen just grazing. I go out and pet him. I let him stay out for a bit but then Daisy started wanting to play, Hercules did not want to play. I put Daisy in the house and got Hercules back in the pen. I walked a few feet to watch. Seriously, not a minute goes by and Hercules is sliding under the fence. I was wondering where he was getting out. It was really funny to watch. The other funny thing is the other goats were watching him and did not follow him. So, I did not know that when goats rub on the fence they aren’t itchy, they are looking for a weak spot. I learned that this morning from someone I know. I knew I needed to do something to keep the goats in. I went to the store and got some stakes to put around the pen. As I was putting them around the pen, I let all the goats out and the donkey to graze. I don’t care that they are out unless daisy gets rough with them or if we aren’t home or at night. They were out for at least an hour. In that hour, they got their bellies full and came right back to the pen, no problem. They were still there when I went to bed last night. Crazy animals.

Sitting in the living room, trying to relax and watch a few minutes of television. Out of no where I hear hissing and screaming from two of the cats. My two are not too happy about the new cat. I know there is fighting and stuff that goes on. They have been circling each other with hissing and chasing each other. Tonight though was a different hissing and screaming. Oreo, the new cat jumped from the landing at the top of the stairs down to the floor to attack Persia. That is what i was hearing. Oh my goodness!! They better get to be friends soon.
