June 30, 2025

The chicks were completely out of water when I went to check on them this morning. How they drank all of that in that short amount of time is beyond me, but I was able to get them some fresh water before I went to work.
The weather is supposed to be cooler this week, and it is supposed to rain all week. I hope it does. We need it and need the temps to cool off. It has not been as bad as it normally is by this time. That is a good thing.
May was in a whole other pen today. How or why, I have no idea, but it is confirmed, her leg is broken. Poor girl. She is moving around more. I hope she will be okay and heal up quickly. She is our oldest hen here. I have no idea how old she actually is, but she has been here since before we moved here.
Athena was up under the tree in the front yard taking in the breeze. She has the right idea.
On my way home, I could see the storms coming in. It was thundering and lightning all over the place. It was going to be a bad storm.
I got home and rushed outside. I got some of the things done and then it started pouring. It poured so much every thing was flooded, including my shoes. It really was a bad storm. I got things done until I could not do anymore because I was soaked to the bone. I went inside for a few minutes and then when I thought it was going to ease up, I got the rest of it done. I did have to go inside the goat pen to get May out of there. She was getting soaked and was not trying to get up and move. I put her back in the other pen which she seemed grateful for. The animals are all surviving the storms together. They know how to get in the shelters and get out of the rain. The poor pigs, every thing is flooded in there. I about fell in their lake in the pen. I know the water will not stay long and they will be okay.
I did check on everyone when the rain let up. They all seemed fine. Everyone is wet, but they are alive. I got so soaked through. It was not fun, but things got done.
I did have to catch Sonny, he had string wrapped around both feet making it hard to walk at all. I was able to get that taken care of.
