2/11/24

I do not know where this cold spell came from, but it definitely got cold. The high was only 41 and it was windy and raining. Not a fun day outside so I stayed inside.

There was some commotion outside. Mattie and the cows were watching whatever was going on. The noises were loud. Turns out, Jeb was pawing at something in the barn.

The donkeys are smart and they were hanging out in the barn staying warm and dry.

I attempted to get the hay in the enclosures so the smaller animals were eating in their shelters and would stay dry and warm also. They all appreciated it.

The sheep were super happy about the hay. The goats were grumbling because they did not get their grain. Oh well. They were able to eat. That’s what mattered.

I did give the fainting goats grain because they don’t eat the hay real well.
The storms were really rolling in. The animals were all moving around until the storms were coming in.

Everyone was fed in a hurry since it was so cold and they all ate it up quickly to get in the shelters.

I noticed the sheep were under the roosting area and the chickens were using the sheep as a stepping ground to get up onto the roost. That was unreal to watch, except it was real. I watched several of them doing that.
